Week 3 began with pupils practicing digs and sets voluntarily before the session actually began, which every member of the group found very encouraging. However when the session began, a quick warm up game of ‘hot potato’ began encouraging the pupils to use their team mates and the importance of good setting.
We then developed the session in to the familiar games of half court volleyball with teams of 4. The standard of volleyball was increasing further however the key factor, for us as a group, which we enjoyed seeing was the effort to try and perform the skills that the pupils were learning. Sometimes it did not pay off, but for us as coaches, success was not important, it was the effort which we most appreciated.
Because of the success in week 2 king of the court was played to finish the session off allowing a competitive atmosphere help the pupils to incorporate their skills in game situations.
